Column: About 40,000 kids have lost a parent to COVID-19. Schools need to step in and help.

As more classrooms across the country return to in-person learning, I hope the fact that tens of thousands of students are grieving the loss of a parent is top of mind for school officials. Otherwise the calls to protect students' mental health have been disingenuous.
